This field indicates the date of death of the enrollee according to the Medicaid enrollment data, or if the person was dually enrolled in Medicare, the date of death from Medicare administrative data.
Formatted as YYYYMMDD.

Many of these dates have not been verified with official U.S. records; the valid date of death switch variable (BENE_VALID_DEATH_DT_SW) identifies the death dates which have been verified.
