This variable is the number of months during the year where the beneficiary’s Medicaid monthly LongTerm Services and Supports (LTSS) Level of Care Code indicated that some level of support was required to meet a beneficiary's needs.

Comments

CCW calculates this variable using the DE Disability and Need Supplemental file; we count each month where the LTSS_LVL_CD_1_MM ne ' ' (i.e., count any month that has a populated value). Note that the LTSS level source variable from DE identifies three levels of care: skilled, intermediate, and custodial care. Each of these levels is included in MMLEADS. In addition, the MDCD_LTSS_LEVEL_MOS variable is the total count of months during the year when any of these LTSS levels was indicated.

Values: 0-12, or null/missing (of no Medicaid enrollment or no LTSS)
