RIF Cost Estimate/Invoice

To request a cost estimate (for grant proposals) or cost invoice (for data requests), please fill out the Specifications Worksheet and submit to ResDAC either by email (resdac@umn.edu) or using the online submission form. Processing time for cost estimate and invoice requests is approximately 5-7 business days.

  • We request a completed Specifications Worksheet for all new use and reuse data requests, including reuse for graduate dissertation projects. This document is essential at the start of the review process because its primary objective is to provide a clear list of the files/years being requested. If your particular request subsequently warrants a "No Fee Cost Invoice" then one will be prepared for you by the Technical Advisor assigned to your request. Complete the Specifications Worksheet located on the RIF request page.
  • If you are a State Agency, complete the Specifications Worksheet located on the State Agency request page: www.resdac.org/cms-data/request/state-agency
  • If you are a Qualified Entity, complete the Specifications Worksheet located on the Qualified Entity request page: www.resdac.org/cms-data/request/qualified-entity-program

NEW: The new cost estimate application tool allows users an opportunity to create an estimated cohort size and obtain an estimated cost based on size, file types, and years before moving to the next level in the data request process.

NOTE: New pricing for the research data files are now in effect as of June 1, 2014. Cost estimates and invoices currently in progress will be priced based on when they are returned from the data distributor. Cost estimates or invoices returned prior to June 1 will be priced using the current pricing. Cost estimates or invoices returned after June 1 will be priced using the new pricing. To view CMS data file pricing, please see the CMS Price List for Research Files.
