Requesting HRS Medicare Data

The HRS linked to the individual level Medicare claims data are considered restricted and require a 2-stage approval process. First, researchers need to go through the HRS approval process. Then, the researcher goes through the CMS research identifiable data request process.

HRS has linked the survey with the Medicare utilization and enrollment information for the years 1993-2005. For a description of the files available, please see the HRS Medicare Claims and Summary Data website. The specific variables found within each file can be found on the ResDAC Data Documentation website.
